Arm-rest for fluorescein photography.

چکیده
FLUORESCEIN photography of the fundus requires an intravenous injection of the dye into the antecubital vein. This has to be done whilst the patient is seated in the position for taking photographs, with the chin on the chinrest and the forehead touching the crossband. An arm-rest to support the elbow in an extended position has been used by me at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital for the past 5 years and it has proved to be satisfactory. It is based on the surgeon's arm-rest of Keeler's operating microscope, but made to clamp on the crossbar of the Zeiss Fundus Camera. It can be placed in position for the right or left arm, it obviates the necessity of cluttering the room with extra tables, and it is easily kept clean (plastic-covered metal). Because this technique is being adopted by an increasing number of workers, it may be useful to bring to their notice this piece of apparatus which has been made for me by Messrs. C. Davis Keeler. The photograph will suffice for description (Figure).

Gravity-Compensated Robust Control for Micro-Macro Space Manipulators During a Rest to Rest Maneuver
Many space applications require robotic manipulators which have large workspace and are capable of precise motion. Micro-macro manipulators are considered as the best solution to this demand. Such systems consist of a long flexible arm and a short rigid arm. Kinematic redundancy and presence of unactuated flexible degrees of freedom, makes it difficult to control micro-macro manipulators. This ...
متن کاملCine photography and video recording of anterior segment fluorescein angiography.
A description is given of apparatus and technique for carrying out cine photography and video recording of anterior segment fluorescein angiography. We found cine best for single-frame analysis and video tape recording less expensive.
متن کاملSerial fluorescein photography in acute retrobulbar neuritis.
Fluorescein fundus photography is of value in the detection of early papilloedema (David, Heyman, and Hart, 1963; Miller, Saunders, and Ffytche, 1965). We have applied this technique to the serial study of patients with acute retrobulbar neuritis. This disorder is usually unilateral and the unaffected eye could be used as a control. Also, since papilloedema is not present at the onset of sympto...
متن کاملLandmarks in the historical development of fluorescein angiography.
In 1961 two medical students from Indiana, H.R. Novotny and D.L. Alvis, authored a paper which described retinal angiography techniques still in use today. 1 The utilization of a fundus camera equipped with an exciter filter, barrier filter, and electronic flash to sequentially document the retinal blood flow following a sodium fluorescein injection was outlined in their landmark article. The c...
